This is a chance for me to write about topics that I am passionate about, but don’t really sit with my day job as MD of Webstars – a digital agency based in Shoreditch and Romania and a director at Make My Day a music publishing / record label.

I am lucky enough to be able to combine my love of all things digital with a lifelong passion for music. These two industries may at first glance seem unlikely bedfellows, but they are in many ways connected. Music and technology have long been closely associated and, from a personal perspective, having spent my formative years subsidising my studies by DJing and working as a live music sound engineer the combination is a natural one.

In my day-to-day life at Webstars I get to indulge my inner geek by discovering, and utilising emerging technologies as they come to industry attention. I also get to experience first-hand a wide and exciting spectrum of fields and sectors, working closely with clients such as The Labour Party, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and SWEAT! gyms amongst many others.

My involvement at MakeMyDay Ltd is equally engaging and varied. A typical week can include negotiating terms for television and/or advertising synchronisations, accompanying one of our recording artists to a radio interview and going along a pre-gig soundcheck.

Make My Day currently represents Lover.band, and administers a catalogue of over 300 songs spanning the last five decades, including the platinum smash “It’s a Heartache”.

It also has reviews for some great business tools that are ideal if you are starting your own business. I may not know all the answers but I have made pretty much every mistake possible since I co-founded Webstars in 2003, this is invaluable when it comes to knowing what I should have done.
